Areas of Focus

  • Familiarizing myself more with the Godot engine and its 2D tools
  • Exploring how to use dialogue and interaction systems
  • Create a simple JRPG base and tools that could be expanded upon in the future

Reflection
    Overall, I accomplished the goals I had set. I learned more about Godot’s 2D workflow, making use of tile-maps, and the tools that come with them. I gained an understanding of dialogue, object/npc interaction, and the power of setting flags inside dialogue to affect gameplay, which was possible thanks to Nathan Hoad’s Dialogue Manager plug-in. 

    While working on the project, I had recurring ideas about how to expand it. With more time, I would like to add party members/multiple enemies, have an in-game menu for equipment and stats, and expand the game out further to have another dungeon with random encounters.  

    All those ideas considered, I'm still very pleased with version 1.0 of this project, and I'm excited to one day apply said ideas and expansions.
